The Austrian TUdi stakeholder network had another exchange meeting in Bairisch Kölldorf, Styria, Austria, as a cooperation event with the "Netzwerk Zukunftsraum Land" association. It was in the format of an open field day, visiting a site of special interest to the TUdi network, as it is prone to erosion and compaction and needs specific techniques and strategies to prevail soil fertility and reduce soil loss by erosive events.
In connection with the field inspection, protection and remediation strategies were discussed. The local soil health problems, restoration strategies, and funding of soil protection measures were presented and discussed by researchers from BOKU and BAW, the agricultural ministry, the agricultural chamber, the local administration, and farmers.
The in situ assessment and discussion of the erosion and compaction topic were well received by the stakeholders. Furthermore, the farmers and representatives of the Chamber of Agriculture were happy to have the opportunity to discuss their experiences and wishes regarding the funding of protection measures with representatives of the funding system within the ministry.
