On 2 December 2024, TUdi held its third Early Career Researchers (ECR) workshop, organised between Europe and China. The online seminar was structured as an academic session with an international reach, drawing on the expertise of TUdi partners from Europe and China to facilitate the scientific dissemination of research findings and offer a platform for knowledge exchange and networking opportunities for early career researchers. Moredated by Pensoft Publishers, the event was attended by around 20 participants.
This edition of the ECR workshop was led by two lecturers - Dr. Maria-Llanos López González from the Agronomy and Innovation Department of AgriSat in Spain, and Dr. Zhuodong Zhang, an associate professor from the Faculty of Geographical Science at Beijing Normal University.
Dr. Maria-Llanos López González's presentation focused on "Remote Sensing for Crop Water and Fertilisation Management," highlighting how satellite images can be used to calculate the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), a widely used metric for quantifying vegetation health and density through sensor data.
Dr. Zhuodong Zhang on the other hand focused on “Gully erosion in agricultural and pastoral landscape”, providing a detailed analysis of several case studies. At the end of each session, participants had the opportunity to ask questions, leading to engaging discussions on the presented topics.
