Early Career Researchers attend TUdi’s soil health workshop between Europe and China

On 4 December, TUdi hosted the first of a series of online workshops on soil health feauturing European and Chinese project partners organised for Early Career Researchers. The event, moderated by Pensoft Publishers, was attended by over 55 participants from the two continents.

The two main speakers were the the leaders of Work Package "Networks to implement and upscale soil restoring strategies" from the European and Chinese side of the project - Dipl.-Ing. Dr.nat.techn. Peter Strauss (BOKU) and Dr. Qinke Yang (Northwest University). Dr. Yang was joined by guest speaker Chunmei Wang from Northwest University.

The online workshop was conducted in the form of academic sessions at an international level, taking advantage of the experience of TUdi partners from Europe and China to stimulate the scientific dissemination of results and training in the field of soil restoration particularly on soil erosion. Dipl.-Ing. Dr.nat.techn. Strauss covered the topic of measuring soil erosion, prof. Yang and Chunmei Wang spoke about the calculation of the (R)USLE-LS factor. At the end of each session, there was time to answer all questions from the participants and indulge in fruitful discussions on the topic of soil health.

The workshops for Early Career Researchers organised by TUdi will continue in the new year. They will last until the end of the project, supporting the knowledge exchange and cooperation between Europe and China.
